BCHPCA Components of Care
Administration
Revelstoke Hospice Society was incorporated in 1993. A board of eight Society Directors (Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary/Treasurer, 2 volunteer Coordinators, Service Coordinator,and 2 Directors) manages the Society.
Staff: Executive Director - part time 15 hours per week
All financial resources are from community donations and the Society’s fundraising.
Volunteer Program
Currently have 17 volunteer/members. Volunteers are supported by Volunteer Co-coordinators in various ways.
Hospice Volunteers are carefully selected and trained to:
• work as supportive friends
• work in the home and institution
• provide respite and support to client and families
• make regular contact with people who are bereaved
Home Program
Volunteers visit one to one. Home Care Nursing and Home Supports are available.
Hospital Program
One room in hospital is designated for hospice.
Symptom Management
Physician supports home and hospital nurses.
Education and Professional Training
Monthly noon meeting for anyone interested in hospice issues. Volunteer meetings to support front-line workers. Try to have at least one workshop a year.
