Administration
Board consists of both appointed and elected members from both the medical community and the community at large. Coordinator is paid.
Funding - Community Partnership, donations and fundraising
Volunteer Program
Volunteers provide hospice services to clients both in hospital and at home.
Eighteen active members.
Education events, volunteer appreciation, hospice awareness is done regularly.
Home Program
Hospice care at home - program is coordinated in conjunction with Home Care Nursing. Home Support may also be involved.
Hospital Program
One designated palliative care room in the hospital. Another room is available when needed.
Spiritual and Pastoral Care
Program utilizes community resources as needed. A representative from Ministerial is appointed to the Board.
Bereavement Program
Grief Reconciliation Seminars are held two or three times a year. Volunteers provide one to one grief reconciliation counselling.
Education and Professional Training
Volunteer training is offered two or three times a year to recruit new volunteers. Education events are planned. Representatives are sent to BCHPCA Conference. Public awareness is promoted through local newspapers, television, etc.
