BCHPCA Components of Care

Administration
Governed by a 7 member Board of Directors; part-time (12 hrs. per week), paid Co-ordinator.  Funding is through ‘Closer to Home’ government grant, and community and private donations.  Received temporary Bingo license in 1999.

Volunteer Program
Volunteer visitor program is offered at home, in the hospital and in the long term care facility.  We have 18 active volunteers at present.

Bereavement Program
The Bereavement program is presently in the development stage.  We are hoping to offer bereavement services in 1999.

Education and Professional Training
A 30 hour volunteer training program entitled “Spread Your Wings” has been developed and is offered to the community once or twice a year.

Organization Mission Statement
The Mission of the Society is to enhance the quality of life and death of persons facing death and bereavement through skilled and compassionate physical, emotional, social and spiritual care.
