Organizational Review

February 2nd, 2010. Recently, the Board made the decision to engage a qualified third party to conduct an organizational review and present us with options for change which would result in recommendations to improve our business functions and enhance our ability to respond to the membership. th. "to build the capacity to achieve quality end of life care for those in British Columbia".

Sincerely,

Nancy Kilpatrick, President

Dear Members of BCHPCA:

As you may be aware, over the past number of months your Board of Directors has been considering ways to assist BCHPCA to focus on our mission and improve service delivery to the members

After a call for expressions of interest, Holly Park Management Consultants (HPMC) presented the Board with a letter of understanding that demonstrated an understanding of the mission of community based hospice and palliative care. This document, several telephone conversations, and reference checks confirmed that Neill McRae, of Holly Park Management Consultants is uniquely qualified to conduct this review.

A brief overview of Mr. McRae’s qualifications follows: Neill McRae, BA, Grad Dipl (Public Admin), MDiv, CMC, and Principal of Holly Park Management Consultants, brings an understanding of, and direct experience with, the hospice movement, palliative care, health care management and administration, the political process, and the spiritual elements of caring for staff, clients, volunteers and families involved in end-of-life environments. He is experienced in organizational, policy and operational reviews, and has provided consulting services to a wide selection of not-for-profit organizations, assisting them to successfully change and greet the future with greater confidence and energy.

Neill McRae has over 30 years in management and consulting. He has held senior management consulting positions with international consulting and audit firms and senior human resources/labour relations management positions in the public and private sectors. Please visit www.hollyparkplace.com for more information.

The scope of the review will be wide, including a broad sampling of individual members and member organizations. The consultant will be working closely with a Steering Committee and a survey of best practices in similar organizations outside British Columbia will be conducted. We expect the report to be substantially complete by the end of April and the final results during our Annual Conference, directly following the AGM on Saturday May 15

We believe that this review will greatly enhance the work of BCHPCA and assist us as we move forward with confidence and commitment. As this work unfolds we encourage everyone contacted by HPMC to participate fully and provide them with a high level of co-operation as they work with BCHPCA to position us to achieve our Mission:
